A quick visit to Nashville – Day 1

I joined my husband on a business related trip to Nashville this past weekend and had a wonderful time. This Chicago girl had fun allowing herself to get swept up in all things country and southern for a short while. Our trip was fairly scheduled with corporate events, but we did have time to leave the vast confines of the Gaylord Opryland Resort for a bit and take in some local musts.

On Day 1, we had a couple hours to explore and grab some lunch.  We first stopped at Mas Tacos Por Favor for lunch.  It may look like a bit of a dive from the outside, but rest assured the food is amazing.  I have a mad love for street tacos and these are some of the best I have ever had.  Try the Sweet Potato and Quinoa Taco, it won’t disappoint.  And the corn!  Oh the corn …. yum! As a side note, Mas Tacos Por Favor was even featured on Food Network’s TV Show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

After stuffing ourselves with Tacos, we visited the Nashville location of the Antique Archaelogy Store.  My husband and one of his work colleagues both watch a show called American Pickers on the History Channel and this is 1 of 2 stores “the pickers” own.  It was fun for them to see some of the actual items that appeared in various episodes and while I don’t know the show like they do, I did enjoy browsing the antiques.

Our final two stops of the day were a driving tour of the beautiful Vanderbilt University campus and a quick peek at Nashville’s Parthenon.

Check back soon for more details on our Nashville adventure.
